It sounds kind of mean to say but perhaps the best thing to ever happen to Steven Yeun professionally was getting killed off on The Walking Dead. Since his character Glen met with a violent end at the end of Negan’s bat the actor has gone on to earn an Academy Award nomination in the Lead Actor category and is a Golden Globe nominee for his role in Beef.
Ali Wong, known primarily as a stand-up comic, has been building a pretty solid acting resume with roles in Birds of Prey and Always Be My Maybe.
In 2023 these two actors came together in the Netflix/a24 production Beef. It tells the age-old tale of road rage gone wrong.

In a world of unlimited viewing options on streaming services when it was released in April 2023 it became the show to watch.
Filled with a great script and strong performances it’s no wonder why the show has multiple Emmy, Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominations.
Many times, we will see an actor in a role but not know their full range until a special project comes along. Beef was that special project.
Ali Wong and Steven Yeun were the dynamic duo of television in 2023 and that is why I find them fascinating.
