BBQ season has commenced, the drive-in theatres are about to open, people are happy about the warm weather and you know what…..Summer Movie Season is here!
I present the 11 movies I cant to see this summer (because 10 isn’t enough)…..in alphabetical order.
Ant Man and the Wasp
Following Avengers: Infinity War I can’t wait to see what is next for the Marvel Universe. Paul Rudd reprises his role as our favourite mini-superhero. Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas also star.
Release Date: July 6
Blackkklansman
Spike Lee is back with the true story of how a black man infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan. Denzel Washington’s son, John David Washington, stars in this film.
Release Date: August 10
The Equalizer 2
Speaking of Denzel, my unofficial twin brother collaborates again with director Antoine Fuqua for Mr. Washington’s first sequel. He resumes his roll of Robert McCall inspired from the tv show of the same name.
Release Date: July 20
The First Purge
I really like The Purge movies. With similarities to The Walking Dead, it gives us a glimpse of what life would be without any sort of law and order. Oscar Winner Marisa Tomei stars in this prequel and portrays the architect behind this annual 12 hour carnage fest.
Release Date: July 4
Hereditary
Billed as the scariest movie of 2018, this movie stars Toni Collette and Gabriel Byrne as a couple who deals with terrifying secrets in their family after the matriarch passes away. Sign me up!
Release Date: June 8
Incredibles 2
I did not see the first one so why am I looking forward to this? I’ll give you three reasons; The combination of Disney and Pixar, so many people are talking about this one and lastly Samuel L Jackson voicing a cartoon.
Release Date: June 15
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Have you seen the trailer? Chris Pratt is back with his wit, craziness ensues everywhere, dinosaurs crashing into the water and Bryce Dallas Howard taking on it all while in high heels. Let’s go!
Release Date: June 22
Mission Impossible: Fallout
Everyone’s favourite ‘Karate Chop Runner,’ Tom Cruise, is back as Ethan Hunt. The trailer looks ridiculously awesome. This looks like a ‘grab your popcorn and hold on’ type of film.
Release Date: July 27
Oceans 8
A heist movie, similar to the previous three installments but this time with an all female crew starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter and wait for it…Anne Hathaway….oh yes please!!!!
Release Date: June 8
Skyscaper
The biggest movie star on the planet comes to us this summer as a security expert who takes on baddies in a skyscraper. Sound familiar? Sure it does. And I know the original poster got a lot of ribbing, ‘Physics doesn’t work like that Rock’, but I am all in. Dwayne Johnson usually delivers and I expect this to be an entertaining flick.
Release Date: July 13
Sicario: Day of the Soldado
The sequel to the original does not have Emily Blunt or director Denis Villeneuve but it retains Benicio Del Toro and Josh ‘What movie are you not in’ Brolin. It seems more violent than the first as it appears to pit the two colleagues against each other.
Release Date: June 29
