Last week I had the opportunity of seeing the show and I was very entertained. It is the story of a couple who passes away in their home and come back to haunt the new homeowners. As a fan of live theatre, this show was right up my alley but beyond that, it was produced in a very unique way, which makes it stylistically unique.
Mr. Meilleur wrote the play in two days and then set out to make his vision a reality. He has attached himself to some very talented and entertaining actors and support crew that brought this idea to reality.
I don’t want to say too much about the play because I don’t want to give a lot away. Suffice it to that I saw it opening night and I was impressed with the overall production. The show is somewhat of a family affair as Mr. Meilleur’s son is involved with promotion and backstage work and his wife is one of the stars of the show.
Speaking of the cast I also need to mention that one of the actors, Chad Wolfe, reminded me of the late John Ritter in not only appearance but mannerisms. (There was no Mr. Furley ‘doppelganger….in case you were wondering)
I had the chance to speak with Mr. Meilleur after the show. He worked in music, acting, and done a plethora of other things but this is his first play.
What was the inspiration behind this story?
Derek Meilleur: The number one inspiration was my wife and her passion for the craft. The second was to do something original and create some trends.
How long did it take to go from the idea to having it come to life?
Two months. Two day to write the play and then we turned into something awesome. I’m a doer, when I say I’m going to do something I get it done.
Were these people you have worked with before?
Lisa has worked with most of them before. I took my money and said I am going to take charge of this. I wasn’t going to wait for sponsorship.
What’s next?
I’ve already written two more plays and the next one is booked for Spring 2018.
Thanks for the time
Thank you
